The first constitution of the Men’s Guild
appears in the blue book of 1958. In the same year
there was an Overture before the General Assembly calling
for the recognition of the Men’s Association
in the Church.
A summarized version of the aims and objectives of the
Men’s Christian Guild (MCG) are:
(a) To advance the Kingdom of God.
(b) To deepen the spiritual lives of men and to promote
the study of the Scriptures and to develop the intellectual,
social and physical well being of the members.
(c) To inculcate a sense of moral discipline among
members.
(d) To encourage a sense of responsibility and practical
Christianity in responding to those needing practical
help or assistance.
(e) To foster loyalty to the Church.
Their strong point is evangelism and bringing
non-Christians to the faith. Their method of doing
this has been the subject of criticism for some time but has
stood the test of time.
